IBM champions open innovation in corporate machine learning

At the VentureBeat conference, IBM's Cox presented a persuasive rationale for open innovation in business generative AI. The executive, Vice President of machine learning frameworks and director at the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab, stressed the crucial nature of collaboration in technological advancement, particularly in the present machine learning environment.
Cox highlighted the nuanced nature of transparency in artificial intelligence, contesting the two-dimensional understanding of the website principle. He observed the burgeoning community of transparent systems from multiple providers, including industry leaders, research centers, and governments.
Nonetheless, he articulated reservations about the standard of transparency in numerous LLMs, noting that some provide little more than a "bag of numbers" devoid of clarity in their development processes.
